 | Justin Williams was born on October 4, 1981 in Cobourg, Ontario. With great hockey influence from his Dad Craig, loving support from Mom Denise and an inspirational figure in his Great Uncle, Jerry Toppazzini (who was a solid player played in the NHL for 14 seasons), Justin started to play hockey at the age of five. Justin played minor hockey in Port Hope, Ontario gaining a reputation as a skilled playmaker. His junior career started with the Cobourg Cougars of the OJHL in 1997. He completed his junior hockey career playing two seasons with the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL. Justin lead the Whalers to the 1999-00 OHL finals with a league high 14 goals and 30 points. RALEIGH, N.C. — The Carolina Hurricanes activated forwards Ray Whitney and Justin Williams from injured reserve Tuesday and sent forward Joe Jensen back to their American Hockey League affiliate in Albany, N.Y.
Williams and Whitney were eligible to play Tuesday night at Washington. Williams missed 43 games after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament Dec. 20 at Florida. He had nine goals and 21 assists in 36 games before the injury.
Whitney was out for 12 games after having surgery March 15 to replace a damaged bursa in his leg, and has 25 goals and 34 assists. |
